My Must See VMWorld 2018 Sessions

VMworld US starts in just a few days and I wanted to jot down just a few of the sessions I'm most excited about attending. In no particular order, they are:

Data Protection in VMware Hybrid Clouds [HCI1705BU] - This session is being led by Christos Karamanolis and Ilya Languev and will feature a demo of VMware's current Hybrid Cloud DP solutions but will also discuss where we're going in the future with DP for both on-premises and off-premises use cases.

Optimizing vSAN for Performance [HCI1246BU] - I don't know anyone that doesn't love a good performance optimization session. This one is led by my teammates Cormac Hogan and Paudie O'Riordan and is bound to have tons of excellent information on how you can get your vSAN environment running in the best possible way.

The Power of Storage Policy-Based Management [HCI1270BU] - The more I learn about SPBM the more I like about it. I am constantly asking myself "Why doesn't everyone do it this way?" the more I learn about it. Come learn from my teammates Duncan Epping and Cormac Hogan about not only vSAN but also VVols, Project Hatchway and VMware vSphere APIs for I/O filtering. They bring demos!

The vSAN I/O Path Deconstructed: A Deep Dive into the Internals of vSAN [HCI1473BU] - When I'm learning a new storage solution one of the first things I ask about is the "Lifecycle of an I/O". John Nicholson and Pete Koehler will be walking us through that exact thing for vSAN. Can't wait!
